Ron was an outstanding two sport athlete at Dundee Community High School. He excelled in both basketball and baseball. In 1941, Ron was Unanimous All-Conference in Basketball in the Little Seven Conference. He broke the conference scoring record and was voted to the 1941 IHSA Honorable Mention All-State Basketball Team.

In addition to being an outstanding athlete, Ron was the class salutatorian. He earned a full athletic scholarship to Northwestern University where he played both basketball and baseball.

Ron passed away on November 9, 2019 at the age of 96.
