Bill Dobler, a 1946 graduate of Dundee Community High School, was an outstanding basketball player who earned All-State honors. Hall of Fame Coach Eugene de Lacey described Dobler -- who died in an automobile accident in 1947 -- as the greatest dribbler and floor general in Cardunal history. Dobler played on the 1946 team that placed third in Illinois and in 1947 competed in the National Invitation Tournament for Bradley.
