Harold (Bud) Lachel played football and wrestled at Dundee Community High School and for a period of time played both sports at Parsons College. Bud earned selection in the Dundee-Crown Athletic Hall of Fame for his lifetime of accomplishments in high school athletics. He holds the IHSA Tennis record for career wins (908) and has distinguished himself further as an official scorer for high school basketball games for over fifty years, including the IHSA Girls Basketball state finals every year since 1990.

Bud is a member of both the Illinois Tennis Coaches and Illinois Basketball Coaches Halls of Fame.
